The evergreen characteristics of Australian country homes are embodied in all New England Country Homes designs, and this lower Hunter Valley project by the company is no exception.

Featuring four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a generously proportioned and open family/living/dining area, the house offers an abundance of outdoor living space, as well as a large study area that makes working from home a breeze.

Sitting atop of a ridge, the site was chosen specifically for overlooking rolling pastures, which are nestled against forested mountains to the south.

When the clients first approached the company, it was to let them know of their disappointment at having missed the opportunity to purchase a house by New England Country Homes that had been constructed some years earlier.

As a result, this house was designed with the brief requesting only a few minor changes to the original design that the clients had fallen in love with.

Designed by the company’s founder and in-house designer Stephen Sadleir, the house features lofty, three-metre high ceilings, high 140mm skirting boards, and 90mm moulded architraves to add to the Victorian charm of the architectural style that the house embodies.

To provide shade during sunny days to windows not protected by verandas, traditionally styled hoods have been constructed. As a bonus, they also provide extra protection from heavy rainfall.

The use of tinted timber frames and roof trusses, Cypress Pine weatherboards, and New Guinea Rosewood- framed windows and external doors has given this house the warmth and charm of an early Australian country home.

New England Country Homes specialises in environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient homes that capture the properties and balance of early Australian architecture with a modern twist.

All projects by New England Country Homes feature generous timber sizes, wide verandas, and high ceilings, giving them the charm of original country-style homes, while you reap the benefits of a new house.
