Expertly designed and constructed by the team at Gremmo Homes, this uber-functional, luxury beach dwelling finds its place high among the headlands in North Curl Curl – offering its distinguished homeowners panoramic views of the South Pacific Ocean. Aptly dubbed ‘the Pinnacle House’ the abode pays homage to its seaside location by encompassing natural materials in its very core – from its retractable glass walls and frequent use of natural stone to its luxury timbers.

From the first glance at its striking façade, ‘the Pinnacle House’ promises instant street presence. Navigating against a narrow 11-metre block, Gremmo Homes artfully fused a bold, monochromatic colour palette with rich textural finishes to achieve a brilliantly bold, powerful appearance, and one sure to captivate those passing by.

In the creation of this façade, charred timber cladding and concrete work hand-in-hand to create a moody ambience, while refreshing, organic textures – such as a bespoke, oversized pivot oak door, and quartz paving – provide true depth of field. Stepping in through the custom front door, homeowners are immediately greeted with the abode’s modern layout.

Understanding the true importance of passive design, a series of skylights are used throughout dwelling – allowing the space to be flooded in refreshing natural light and encouraging natural airflow. Meanwhile, double-glazed commercial windows and vast, cantilevered balconies promise seamless connection and direct, natural pathways between the home’s occupants.

The abode offers a fresh take on open-plan living, where a contemporary kitchen – complete with honed marble benchtops and modern matte black joinery by Kastell Kitchens – serves as the centrepiece from which all other spaces flow. A capacious almost five-metre window is aptly positioned at the kitchen’s benchtop, offering an injection of the calm tranquillity of natural light. Ensuring that the kitchen remains not only the heart of the home but functional to its very core, the use of Sub Zero and Wolf appliances add a welcome touch of understated opulence against engineered oak floorboards, elegant pendant lighting and a bar fridge for the family’s wine connoisseurs.

The central living room opens out onto an elegant alfresco balcony space, where a complete outdoor kitchen and striking ocean view delivers the homeowners endless hours of entertainment among loved ones.

Despite taking up a large footprint, the home’s cleverly zoned ‘pockets’ span right the way across the six internal levels. Each of these separate interior spaces afford privacy for individual family members, and a space to retreat to as needed. Evoking a sense of grandeur through its position within the dwelling’s upper most level, the master bedroom is complete with oversized windows offering a sprawling view of its surrounds, alongside a decadent master en suite.

A convenient place to wash away the day’s rigours, the en suite fully rejects the standard orientation of rooms, making true impact with its completely open layout, no internal doors, and an ever opulent freestanding charcoal bathtub. Bespoke and brilliant to its very core, the home’s carefully zoned breakout areas form the perfect spaces of solace for teenagers.

With its soaring steep block and multi-level nature, the abode itself posed a series of different challenges for the Gremmo Homes team to navigate. The need for quite extensive rock excavation – all the while protecting the neighbouring properties – required careful planning, intense supervision and above all, expert execution. Protection and prevention of coastal corrosion came through the form of treated steel members that create the abode’s impressive, cantilevered areas, which work in conjunction with façade’s bold, horizontal lines to achieve the ultimate vision of expansive, floating space.
