FROM SHABBY TO CHIC

Set on Birchgrove’s beautiful Louisa Road, this stunning home was given expert rejuvenation from Sowden Building Solutions. Working against a laundry list of issues, Sowden Building Solutions utilised high quality materials and ingenious constructional knowledge to transform this home.

The home presented with major water damage, rot, rising dampness and heating and cooling issues. Sowden Building Solutions not only remedied these problems, but also installed a new kitchen and laundry area, re-tiled the living spaces, corrected the insulation and waterproofing, re-finished the timber flooring and Ben Raffety Air installed new ducted air conditioning.

Sowden Building Solutions utilised porcelain tile from Living Tiles to repair the indoor/outdoor flooring that was damaged from the surrounding eucalyptus tree tannins. To modernise the kitchen, brand new joinery with Corian benchtops was installed to brighten the space, and the layout was shifted to create better ergonomics.

The project’s original damaged insulation was replaced with two layers of super high-density insulation with an added membrane. This feature will dramatically decrease the heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter.
