A Modern Classic

This recent project from the team at Sowden Building Solutions stuns with thoughtful design touches, spatial fluidity and sustainable performance features. The entryway begins a succession of standout features with its marble inlay in the tiled floors. Exceptional tiling continues into the powder room, where herringbone patterned tile adds a touch of luxury. For a moment of calm, the cedar bathtub is intentionally placed to overlook the tranquil gardens.

Comfort and performance were of the utmost importance to the project. While original frames were left to maintain a heritage feel, double-glazed windows were used for the homeowner’s quality of living. To ease movement and fluidity, adjustments to the flow of the home were made. The modern layout boasts a new entry to the house from the garage, into the laundry with a staircase taking you into the kitchen. Also, the flow between the master bedroom and the new bathroom complements the open-plan dining and kitchen area. With retained character and contemporary features for performance, this project is a masterclass in transforming a classic home into a haven of comfort.
