Matt Blatt has expanded its range of travel-inspired furniture and homewares from stand-out brand United Strangers. The collection now includes console tables, desks, coffee tables, cabinets, armchairs, and offbeat accessories that are crafted from unique materials – a fresh range of premium pieces has just arrived in store.

The range is exclusively available in Australia through Matt Blatt’s showrooms and online store. Crafted by a dedicated team of artisans and designers, the collection centres on original, sustainable furniture inspired by salvaged and repurposed materials. The team behind the United Strangers brand is drawn from across the globe, combining backgrounds and skills to devise a unified product range.

The creator of United Strangers is Logan Komorowski, a New Zealand-born design fan who began crafting recycled furniture at the age of 16. After honing his expertise with local architects and designers in both London and LA, he launched United Strangers in 2009 – not as a furniture company, but as a socially responsible design community. The brand’s modern vintage look is inspired by the iconic New York neighbourhoods of yesteryear.

Discussing his latest collection, Komorowski says “this year we found inspiration in new raw materials, such as thick, vegetable-tanned leather, which is processed with hand patinas, and our Italian marble, which we import in large slabs and then slice down to minimise waste. Much of our new Oslo range was inspired by recent travels to Europe, where we found the blonde timbers often used in architecture resonated well with our favoured materials and leathers – and we’re incredibly excited to share the results”.

“Our customers have quickly embraced the United Strangers range so we’ve expanded our collection, adding new-season pieces which feature the brand’s hallmark vintage vibe and luxe, lived-in look,” says Matt Blatt’s owner Adam Drexler. “One of the things that makes United Strangers really stand out is the fact that many of their designs are crafted to showcase [the] materials above all else. Alongside recycled military materials, the range also features…materials that were chosen because of the way they’ll age and improve with time, such as brass, hand-finished leather, and quality timbers.”
