Choose The Best, Choose Mesh
The rangehood experts from Schweigen have highlighted the benefits of using mesh filters, and how they’re able to optimise your rangehood’s performance.
Since homeowners rely on their rangehood to get rid of cooking exhaust and keep the air clean, protecting their health and home, it’s important to ensure each component is doing its job properly, including the filter. Although aesthetically pleasing, baffles are considerably less effective than mesh filters at trapping grease and oils, as they reduce airflow while requiring sufficient velocity to capture grease molecules. This means the rangehood needs to operate at high speeds and even creates excess noise – an unhealthy disruption to everyday life.
Schweigen’s mesh filters, on the other hand, are able to trap grease and other air contaminants while maintaining maximum airflow. This all comes down to the design; Schweigen’s filters feature five stacked layers of fine stainless steel or aluminium mesh with cross-directional patterns that intersect with one another. These layers effectively trap airborne grease, fats and oils as they attempt to make their way through the rapidly changing directions. Made from lighter materials, mesh filters are able to perform more quietly while capturing finer airborne pollutants. And when it comes time to clean them, these filters are easy to remove and can go right in the dishwasher.
Schweigen stresses the importance of having an effective rangehood filter – without one, the quality of your indoor air will be compromised, which can impact the occupants’ health over time. Poorly performing filters can also cause damage to the rangehood itself, leading to fire risks and breakdowns. So, if you’re planning on a kitchen remodel or looking for a new home, don’t look past a mesh filter.
