Built by Ginardi, this Hamptons-inspired residence is an opulent coastal retreat. Set on ten acres among the lush bushland of Avoca Beach, the project was to deliver a traditional family home with refined and relaxing liveability. Working alongside building architect Brad Inwood Architects, interior and exterior designer Greg Natale Design, and landscape architect Myles Baldwin Design, the team exceeded the clients’ expectations, and achieved an elegant and comfortable abode with evidence of impeccable attention to detailing.
A long, pebbled drive welcomes you to a striking façade, which showcases high natural-stone and tiled terraces, and solid masonry walls, as well as a Welsh Penrhyn slate roof, and a four-car garage and carpark. The gardens around the estate offer scenic walking tracks, with sandstone steps and water features paying homage to the natural surroundings and adding a sense of luxury.
Featuring five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an open-plan living and dining area, and a dine-in kitchen, as well as a rumpus room, home theatre, billiards room, and fully-operational recording studio, the house has plenty of space for family enjoyment, and entertaining guests. A tennis court and in-ground pool continue the grandeur of the property, while a large solar array promotes sustainable living.
Each room encapsulates its own unique style, while maintaining consistency with the overall concept. A blue and white palette throughout the interior weaves together with the recurring motif of squares in the wall panelling and ceiling details, while American oak joinery and ebony-stained flooring exude warmth. Decorative bronze metalwork on select ceilings has a striking effect, as does the vaulted ceiling with triangular exposed timber beams found in the central hub.
The entirety of the timber wall panelling was hand-crafted on site to ensure each panel suited the space, while various wallpapers line the walls and ceilings of the home to provide a range of textures and details.
During the build, Ginardi faced the challenge of negotiating the inspiring ideas of the designers within the structural constraints. Due to its extensive collective knowledge of all forms of construction, the team was able to overcome all issues and produce a premium finish that is designed to stand the test of time.
The house won multiple awards for its building merit and landscape design, including the Contract Houses $10–12 million category at the 2017 Master Builders Association (MBA) of NSW Excellence in State Awards, and the Best Landscape Design category at the 2018 Belle Luxury Home Building Awards.
Established in 2013, Ginardi is an innovative and well-established construction company inspired by the vision to achieve outstanding results and the highest level of quality on all of its projects. Founder and director Luigi Ginardi leads a team of experienced professionals who specialise in building luxury residential homes across Sydney, throughout the North Shore, eastern and inner-west suburbs. Due to the complexity and grand scale of the projects they undertake, the team complete one home per year to ensure each build receives optimum attention, and to preserve the value of the final product.
The desire to go above and beyond expectations is at the heart of Ginardi, and one of the many reasons behind the relationships it has cultivated with clients, designers and subcontractors. Collaborating with some of Australia’s leading architects and designers allows the team to implement a spirit of modernisation in every build and create homes that are ahead of the curve, while exposure to the latest construction practices and resources enhances their ability to work in an efficient and viable manner.
