Bold and functional, Buildcraft Constructions’ new display home, The Aurora, is designed to stand the test of time. The modern home suits the needs of the Australian family, and is able to adapt to changing family requirements.

The architectural elements of the design shine in their own right – the shapes, colours and materials used internally and externally provide contemporary characteristics that become the hero of this home. Buildcraft Constructions’ previous display home, The Sterling, provided inspiration for the floor plan, while new design elements were introduced to create The Aurora.

The façade emphasises the minimalist aesthetic of the home, with a modest palette applied to key areas to highlight certain features, such as dark window frames and dark stone-look tile cladding. Timber cladding adds warmth to the otherwise monochromatic palette, and is echoed through the landscaping.

The external colours and materials flow into the interior and are used on a larger scale to add warmth and interest through texture. The heart of the home is undeniably the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, which provides tranquil views over the landscaped gardens and in-ground swimming pool.

The living room also includes a striking fireplace, and the spacious kitchen is a chef’s dream, providing ample storage, a butler’s pantry, generous bench space and the latest appliances. To achieve a seamless indoor/outdoor integration, the living area flows effortlessly into the alfresco, which overlooks the in-ground swimming pool and is complemented by lush landscaping.

The Aurora first joined Buildcraft Constructions’ long list of award-winning homes in 2016 at both the Master Builders Association (MBA) of New South Wales Excellence in Housing Awards and the Hills Building and Design Awards.

At the MBA awards the luxurious home won the Exhibition/Project Home between $600,001 and $750,000 accolade. The interior fit-out was recognised at the Hills awards, winning the Residential Interior Design category.

Most recently, at the 2018 Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) Combined Chapter (Sydney and Illawarra) Design Awards, the effective, forward-thinking and highly adaptable design of The Aurora was recognised, receiving a commendation in the New Residential Building Design category.
