Gremmo Homes Project 14

A SANCTUARY BY THE SEA

Nestled in the luxurious northern beaches of Sydney, this coastal gem offers sweeping views from a cliff’s edge, encapsulating the natural landscape in its grand design. The bespoke blackbutt door welcomes guests to the aesthetic of the build – a blend of simplistic beauty and modern bohemia. This style continues into the home, with glass, stone and natural timber accents offering the space cohesion and authenticity. The use of these high-end materials brings seamless integration between indoor and outdoor atmospheres, allowing all who enter to relax into the laidback luxury of the space.

The façade is also defined by its unity to both the project’s vision and the surrounding natural landscape. The use of Berrimah natural stone and blackbutt battens are thoughtful choices, as their ability to age naturally over time helps them blend seamlessly with the coastal environment. Berrimah is intentionally repeated throughout the home, reappearing in elements like the fireplace surrounds in the family room, to consistently reinforce the concept of bringing the outdoors in.

Vast windows were a key design element to the overall vision. Inviting in the stunning views and coastal breeze was made possible by Urban Harmony Design’s Jeremy McCulla, who ensured all living areas benefited from the northerly aspect of the home’s positioning, while reflecting the natural light off the sun-soaked pool. The thoughtful open-plan layout effortlessly connected the multi-levelled home – with an open staircase keeping views uninterrupted and the element of rustic charm.

The kitchen is built for the most dedicated chef, supported by pristine Miele appliances, Dolomite super white benchtops, v-groove panelling and blackbutt cabinetry – all singing in harmony with the timber flooring. Natural stone tiles and custom blackbutt vanities can also be spotted in the bathroom, continuing the earthy theme consistent throughout the project. The entire home considers all members of the family, with highly thoughtful additional rooms, such as a stylish games room, a mud room and a stunning pool featuring a glass underwater viewing window.

The high-end grandiosity of the home necessitates multiple spaces for entertainment. To enjoy the world-renowned scenery, the backyard fire pit is the spot to soak up the sea breeze, whereas the modern wet bar is the perfect addition to add a level of sophistication and fun. With a fully equipped gym and a state-of-the-art media room, the house is perfect for all forms of leisure.

With a home that takes so much inspiration from the surrounding landscape, it’s instinctual that its makeup should be as sustainable and environmentally conscious as possible. This is achieved through solar passive design and ventilation, alongside photo voltaic power generation and double-glazed windows – to keep the chilly coastal winds out and the energy bills down. Smart home automation and programming maintains the efficient operation of the home, minimising resource wastage and defining the home as modern and current. Essentially, this home is a masterclass in coastal luxury – where architectural elegance meets thoughtfully sustainability, creating a sanctuary that is as functional as it is breathtaking.
