BUILT TO BREATHE

The newest project from the team at Newfangled Building is a showstopper, fusing thermal performance with meticulous design. The client necessitated a thermally comfortable extension, upgrading the existing home to ensure liveability regardless of the season. The home achieves a building envelope through the use of Proclima building wraps, premium insulation and well-ventilated wall and roof cavities. These features ensure the home self-regulates its temperature year round, significantly reducing the need for mechanical heating and cooling.

The requirement of optimising thermal performance was met with smart passive design. Critical features included coffered ceilings that intelligently conceal structural beams while maintaining ceiling height and raked ceilings with angled glazing that capture breathtaking views of Mount Kembla. Sustainability was central to the build. Weathertex Classic weatherboards along with flood-resistant concrete walls and BAL-compliant detailing ensure the home is built to endure. The end result is a home that is sustainable, practical and designed to stand the test of time.
