PERFECTING LAKE VIEW LIVING

The brief called for a contemporary residence that would respond sensitively to the challenging site while making the most of its remarkable views across Lake Macquarie and Pulbah Island.

Set amongst the trees on a steeply sloping site now sits this modern Australian family home. For Rustic Touch, the heavily treed and sloping block presented both a challenge and an opportunity. Rather than imposing a design upon the landscape, this tri-level home was carefully designed around the natural contours of the land, allowing it to sit comfortably within its natural setting.

Orientation was integral to the open plan design. Main living spaces were positioned to capture the water views, with expansive glazing creating a constant visual connection to the lake beyond. Large glass doors open the living area onto a balcony, for seamless indoor-outdoor connection to gather, entertain or simply take in the changing landscape.

The material palette complements the surrounding environment. Warm natural finishes are balanced with contemporary tones and clean architectural lines, creating a home that feels modern and at home in its setting.
