Starr Constructions Project 4

For this project, the clients asked Starr Constructions to turn their tired and outdated home into a modern and spacious sanctuary that would suit their growing family. To achieve the clients’ request, the team knocked down the existing dwelling and built a new family home that will be enjoyed for many years to come. To accommodate the sloping block, Starr Constructions brought to life a sleek, parapet design that will stand the test of time. Built across three levels, the contemporary home captures beautiful metropolitan and oceanic views of Sydney from all of its aspects. Featuring generously sized bedrooms, as well as a home theatre, the cleverly designed layout provides the family with many spaces in which to relax.

Located on the first floor, the living, dining and kitchen space opens onto the undercover alfresco area, which allows the clients to entertain outdoors throughout the year. An adjoining barbecue area was positioned on the ground level to provide easy access and accommodate all levels of ability. The spotted-gum timber staircase with glass balustrades adds plenty of visual interest to the interior, while expansive windows provide an abundance of natural light and help to create an open and inviting atmosphere. A neutral colour palette of white, cream, and soft-grey hues was used throughout the interior and exterior of the home to create the illusion of increased space and achieve a crisp, calming aesthetic.

The modern bathroom includes a freestanding Forme bath and a double vanity unit for a touch of sophistication. Featuring deluxe Miele, Grohe and Argent appliances, the space exudes opulence. In line with the clients’ request for a minimalist design, the landscaping was purposefully kept simple to ensure it wouldn’t detract attention from the home.
