Waratah Building Project 1

This magnificent home effortlessly fuses modern Australian luxury with classic art deco style. Impeccably adhering to the client’s wishes, Waratah Building utilised its innate understanding of construction to update the abode with an abundance of modern luxuries while also preserving the integrity and character of this beautiful home.

The project initially began as a contract to internally renovate the house, before growing to include extensive site demolition and excavation, as well as construction of a new free-standing double garage using salvaged roof tiles to make it appear the same age as the home. The residence’s internal blueprint was changed significantly to create a more intuitive and functional design, including relocating the kitchen to the opposite end of the house.

As the heart of the home, the large open plan kitchen and dining area features a seating area with fireplace leading to the entertaining deck, as well as an adjoining butler’s pantry and unique L-shaped island bench to fully utilise the room’s layout. Highlighting Waratah Building’s instinctual understanding of design, extensive work was done to re-pitch the ceilings, and feature trusses were exposed and restored to grant the space a rustic and airy feel. Original hardwood floors, French doors and windows were restored throughout the home to retain period charm.

Continuing the home’s majestic grandeur to the external area, Waratah Building also transformed the garden with beautiful verdant landscaping and tiered retaining walls around the property. Capitalising on the residence’s elevated positioning, the talented team constructed a generous deck, complete with an outdoor fireplace that overlooks the newly built swimming pool – perfect for entertaining guests all year round.
