Rustic Touch
Highly commended at the 2017 Housing Industry Association (HIA) Australian GreenSmart Awards, this eco-friendly design by Rustic Touch is one to be admired. By combining composite materials with innovative design, the team at Rustic Touch were able to deliver a prime example of green living. Utilising space was of vital importance with this project, which is located on a small 450m² block. Rustic Touch’s sustainable design specialist, Debra Turner, created a home with a generously sized living area and a stylish main bedroom. Keeping the clients’ needs in mind, the home is large enough for entertaining friends and family, while retaining a cosy ambience.
High ceilings and large, open doorways give the home a luxurious feeling of increased space. The skillion roof provides a minimalist and modern aesthetic, while also allowing for a raised vertical ceiling, additional high windows, and increased natural light throughout the entry and hallway. Key features of this property include the solar panels and eco+ carpet, which foster sustainable living. The eco+ carpet
is manufactured with renewably sourced polymer, which is made from natural corn sugar. A solar-power inverter and solar hot-water system utilises natural energy.
Beautiful natural tones give the home a warm and inviting feeling. The charcoal feature wall and carpet in the main bedroom offer a cosy atmosphere, while tying in with the modern and sleek exterior design. With natural wood flooring throughout the main living areas that beautifully complements the wooden exterior of the property, this design achieves the ultimate look. Timber capped and lapped fencing surrounds the block, while a central feature wall creates a zen atmosphere in the heart of the garden. The stunning kitchen features a Caesarstone waterfall benchtop and Miele cooking appliances, while the high-gloss cabinetry offers ample storage space. The matching splashback adds contrast to the colour palette, while making the kitchen the centre of attention.
